Farm Products Express Shipping Policy
SHIPPING POLICY
Delivery, Collection & Logistics Terms
Effective Date: June 2026 | Version 4.1 | farmproducts-ex.co.bw
1. Introduction
Farm Products Express Botswana (“FPE”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) is a digital agricultural marketplace connecting farmers, suppliers, buyers, transporters, and service providers across Botswana.
This Shipping Policy sets out how delivery charges are calculated, how products are transported, available delivery options, payment requirements, and buyer responsibilities.
By placing an order through Farm Products Express Botswana, you agree to the terms of this policy.
2. FPE Logistics Model
Farm Products Express Botswana operates a coordinated logistics model designed to connect farms and buyers across Botswana efficiently and transparently.
Our delivery system enables buyers to:
- Purchase directly from farms and suppliers.
- View estimated delivery costs before checkout.
- Choose between delivery and self-collection.
- Combine multiple products into a single order.
- View estimated delivered cost per item and per kilogram before payment.
FPE coordinates transportation directly and may engage approved third-party transport providers where required.
3. How Delivery Costs Are Calculated
Delivery charges are calculated based on the following factors:
- Farm location
- Buyer location
- Total order weight
- Vehicle size required
- Total route distance
The delivery calculator automatically estimates transport costs during checkout based on the above variables.
4. Delivery Route Calculation
FPE calculates delivery costs using the following route model:
Gaborone Base → Farm / Supplier Location → Buyer Location → Gaborone Base
This model reflects the full movement of transport resources required to collect products from suppliers and deliver them to buyers.
Example — Martin’s Drift Farm to Maun:
Gaborone → Martin’s Drift → Maun → Gaborone
The total route distance forms the basis of the transport cost calculation.
5. Vehicle Selection
Vehicle selection is automatic and determined by the total weight of products in the buyer’s shopping cart.
FPE applies a safe payload approach to promote road safety, minimise product damage, and improve delivery reliability.
Vehicle Categories:
- 1 Ton Vehicle
- 2 Ton Vehicle
- 3 Ton Truck
- 5 Ton Truck
- 10 Ton Truck
- 15 Ton Truck
- 25 Ton Truck
- 35 Ton Truck
- 41 Ton Truck & Trailer
Orders exceeding 41 tonnes, or the capacity of a single vehicle, may require multiple vehicles or a custom transport quotation.
6. Delivery Efficiency Information
To assist buyers in making informed purchasing decisions, the Farm Products Express Delivery Calculator provides logistics efficiency data during checkout.
This information may include:
- Selected delivery vehicle
- Total basket weight
- Safe payload capacity
- Truck utilisation percentage
- Delivery efficiency score
- Recommended minimum order quantity
- Available remaining capacity
- Estimated delivered cost per item
- Estimated delivered cost per kilogram
This information is provided as a planning and budgeting tool and does not constitute a guarantee of final transport arrangements.
7. Mixed Product Loads & Shared Truck Loads
7.1 Mixed Product Loads
FPE allows buyers to combine multiple products within a single order. Examples include:
- Oranges and green peppers
- Tomatoes and onions
- Lucerne and fertiliser
- Livestock feed and farm inputs
- Products sourced from multiple farms and suppliers
The Delivery Calculator automatically combines the total weight of all items in the shopping cart and selects the most appropriate vehicle. This enables buyers to maximise transport efficiency and reduce overall delivery costs.
7.2 Shared Truck Loads
FPE offers a Shared Truck Load option designed to help buyers reduce transport costs and improve affordability.
Under this model, multiple buyers may organise themselves and place a consolidated order under a single account for delivery to one agreed location.
Examples include:
- Neighbours combining household purchases
- Restaurants purchasing together
- Retail shops pooling orders
- Schools and institutions purchasing collectively
- Community buying groups
- Farmer groups purchasing farm inputs together
The Delivery Calculator combines all products in the order and calculates delivery based on the total basket weight and destination.
Benefits of Shared Truck Loads:
- Lower delivery cost per kilogram
- Lower delivery cost per item
- Improved vehicle utilisation
- Access to bulk purchasing advantages
- Reduced transport costs for small-scale buyers
- Reduced environmental impact through fewer vehicle trips
One buyer or authorised representative may place the order on behalf of a group. All products will be delivered to the agreed delivery location selected during checkout. FPE may assist in coordinating deliveries where practical to maximise transport efficiency.
